We have detailed below our most commonly asked questions. Please read through them to see if we have provided an answer to your question.

As we believe every swimmer should have a safe and enjoyable open water experience all of our venues go through a rigorous water-safety accreditation process put in place by RLSS and British Triathlon. Visit here to find out more.

Yes. You must be a confident swimmer able to swim 400m in a pool either in breaststroke or front crawl.

The sessions are open to under 16’s who must also be confident swimmers. Under 16’s will only be allowed to complete the 500m lap unless specific permission has been given by the lakeside staff.  Under 12’s must be accompanied at all times in the water by an adult from the same household. All swimmers between 12-16 yrs will be asked to do a monitored 150m loop on their first session. Once accredited in this way they will be allowed to swim the 500m lap on their own.

Swim distance will vary from 400m to 4.5km at our ActiveSwim events. At our open water swim venues, initially we will open 150m, 300m, and 500m laps. A 750m, 900m and 1.2km lap will be opened later in the season as the water and air temperature increase.

Yes, but it is quick and easy to set up! It also means that you can log into your account and purchase tickets to future events without having to re-enter all your details!

Follow the ‘book’ buttons on the event you wish to enter or on the swim you wish to book and you will be prompted to create or logi in to an account. Alternatively you can log into your ATW account on the Active Training World website (top right-hand corner) and press the BUY TICKETS button, select the event that you are purchasing tickets for and follow the prompts to complete your order.

Covid 19: Active Swim World want everyone to enjoy these open water swimming sessions safely and therefore we require everyone to adhere to our strict social distancing rules when attending the sessions. Anyone found to be flaunting the rules will be instantly banned from all future swimming sessions.

Event Cancellation Policy: We want you to book with confidence so, if your session(s) can no longer go ahead, you will receive a refund of your entry fee, or a transfer to alternative session. (Booking fees are non-refundable)

Transfers & Refunds: If you are not able to attend your session(s) we will transfer you to an alternative session on the condition that we are told with a minimum of 24hrs notice before your session starts. You will not be able to transfer between sessions without a minimum of 24hrs notice. Refunds will be given in the event of illness, injury, family bereavement as long as suitable proof is given e.g. doctor’s note etc.

 

In most cases your registration pack will be collected at the race, please check specific event details. Please arrive in sufficient time to do this, (we recommend arrival about an hour before your start time).

Please refer to the event page which will contain lots of the information you need. The detailed race information will be emailed to you approximately one week before the event date.

A ankle strap with the chip that you wear before the start of the race.

This triggers your start and subsequent finish time when you cross a mat on entry and exit from the lake. Or simply of exit if a mass start event.
